Faction
Factions (dt. Fraktionen) kamen im Dezember 2000 nach Sosaria. Im September 2014 wurden sie durch das neue Vice versus Virtue PvP-System abgelöst und ausgelöscht.

Die Geschichte um die Factions
Das Faction (Fraktionen) System fand ausschliesslich auf der Facette Felucca statt.
Zurück geht dieses System auf die Zeit, als die düstere Minax versuchte, Lord British's Reich zu übernehmen. Sie zettelte eine Art Glaubenskrieg zwischen ihrem und dem Gefolge des Königs an. Beide Seiten spalteten sich darauf hin in je zwei Gruppen mit verschiedenen Idealen und schlussendlich brach ein Krieg zwischen diesen vier Fronten aus.
Die Aufstand begann in Moonglow wo das Council of Mages entschied, dass Lord British nicht länger in der Lage war, Britannia zu regieren. Er hatte nicht nur versagt beim Versuch sein Land gegen einfallende Horden zu verteidigen, nein, auch eigenes Gefolge wurde im Stich gelassen und lief in der Folge zur dunklen Seite über, zu einer der dunklen Factions. British's weiterhin treues Gefolge versuchte verzweifelt, diese Gerüchte zu zerstreuen, dass sich Moonglow vom Thron lossagen wollte, und machte diejenigen, die in diesem Kampf eingesperrt oder getötet wurden zu Märtyrern. Das Council of Mages glaubte fortan, dass Britannia einen neuen Anführer brauchte, einen, der den Kampf gegen Minax wieder aufnehmen konnte, und dabei natürlich den Frieden bewahren sollte. Zu diesem Zweck waren drastische Massnahmen notwendig. Bisher hatten sich die Hüter der arkanen Wissenschaft nie selbst mit solchen Tätigkeiten beschäftigen müssen, aber nun war es notwendig, viele Informationen und Ressourcen zusammenzutragen. Sie bekämpften nun Minax und Lord British, und waren dementsprechend von beiden Seiten angreifbar.
In der Zwischenzeit hatte Minax ihrerseits einen Aufstand angezettelt. Merkwürdigerweise gab es in ihren eigenen Rängen diejenigen, die nach den Shadow Lords verlangten, die aus dem tiefsten Abgrund (Abyss) befreit werden und als rechtmässige Herrscher über das dunkle Land regieren sollten. Während Minax' Lakaien ihr dankbar waren dass sie Terror und Leid über Lord British's Land brachte, waren auch sie der Meinung, dass die düstere Herrin nur ein magisches Werkzeug war, aber nicht stark genug um die dunklen Heerscharen gegen den König anzuführen. Zu diesem Zwecke nahmen auch sie drastische Massnahmen in Kauf und bereiteten selbst ihre Pläne vor - den Ruf nach den Shadow Lords. So waren Minax' Lakaien wiederum gespalten in diejenigen, die ihr folgten, und diejenigen, die sie gerne entthront sehen wollten. Diese inneren Kämpfe hinderten als einziges Minax bisher daran, den Tugend Zauber, der Lord British und sein Gefolge beschützt, zu brechen.

- "When Minax took over Lord British's realm, she started a rift, both among her followers, and among the followers of Lord British. Both sides split into two different groups, with different ideals, and war ensued among all 4 sides.
- The rebellion began in Moonglow, where the Council of Mages decided that Lord British was no longer fit to rule Britannia. He'd not only failed to protect his lands from the invading hordes, but many of his own people had abandoned him and fled to the side of darkness, taking post with one of the factions of evil.
- British's loyal followers tried to crush the rumors quickly that Moonglow was planning on seceding from the throne's grasp, but this only furthered their cause, making those who died or were jailed martyrs for the cause of the mages. The Council of Mages now believes that what Britannia needs is a new leader: one who can not only lead Britannia against Minax, but who can also keep peace once it’s restored. To this end, they have begun preparations to do something drastic.
- Though they've never had to do this themselves, they are the keepers of the arcane knowledge, and they have prepared many notes and items which they will need in their quest. They oppose Minax, and Lord British, and as such, are not safe from danger in either company.
- Meanwhile, Minax has something of a rebellion herself occurring. Strangely enough, from within her own rank and file, there are those who are calling for the Shadow Lords to be released from the Abyss to take their rightful place as the rulers of the dark land. While her minions are grateful to Minax for allowing them the opportunity to strike terror at Lord British, they feel she is only useful as a magical tool, and is not powerful enough to lead them against Lord British for an extended period of time. To this end they have begun preparations to do something drastic of their own; call for the Shadow Lords.
- Her minions are now split amongst those who would follow her, and those who wish to see her dethroned. Infighting is the only thing thus far that is keeping Minax from working out a way to breach the virtue spell that protects Lord British and his followers.

Allying themselves with orcs, headless, gazers, trolls, and other beasts, they seek revenge against Lord British, for slights both real and imagined, though some of the followers wish only to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting populace."

They refuse to give up their homelands to the vile Minax, an detest the Shadowlords for their evil ways. In addition, the Council of Mages threatens the existence of their rulter, and as such they have armed themselves, and prepare for war with all."

– Shadow Lords: Das Stronghold befand sich nord-östlich in den Wäldern Yew's - Beschreibung: "The Shadow Lords are a faction that has sprung up within the ranks of Minax. Comprised mostly of undead and those who would seek to be necromancers, they pose a threat to both the sides of good and evil. Their plans have disrupted the hold Minax has over Felucca, and their ultimate goal is to destroy all life."

– Council of Mages: Das Stronghold befand sich im Magincia Parliament Building in der süd-östlichen Ecke von Magincia - Beschreibung: "The council of Mages have their roots in the city of Moonglow, where they once convened. They began as a small movement, dedicated to calling forth the Stranger, who saved the lands once before. A series of war and murders and misbegotten trials by those loyal to Lord British has caused the group to take up the banner of war."

Festungen der Factions
Jede Faction hatte seine eigene Festung, ein Ort wo der sogenannte Faction Stein (Bewerbungsstein) seinen Platz hatte und wo die Städte-Siegel untergebracht wurden. Die Festung war die Basis jeder Faction. Die (heute stillgelegten) Festungen waren an folgenden Orten untergebracht:
- Minax Faction: Den Stein bzw. die Festung fand man in den Bergen westlich von Trinsic
- True Britannians Faction: Den Stein bzw. die Festung fand man direkt im Schloss im Thronraum in Britain
- Council of Mages Faction: Den Stein bzw. die Festung fand man in Magincia im Parlament Gebäude, südöstlich auf der Insel
- Shadowlord Faction: Den Stein bzw. die Festung fand man im Yew Wald, eine ganze Ecke nordöstlich vom Yew Heiler Shop namens "Deep Forest Healing"

Es gab drei Ämter die einer Fraktion zugestanden wurden. Es waren dies der Faction Commander, der Sheriff und der Finance Minister.
